You can book an appointment to our laboratories located at our health centres. Samples are taken in the morning between 8:00-11:00 and during other open hours our laboratories are open for acute on call sample taking. At our health centre in Hamina, samples are collected twice a week during appointments.

Examinations without a doctor’s referral

Would you like to check your cholesterol levels, thyroid gland values or blood sugar levels? Are you interested in measuring your ferritin? If you’d like to check your health with overall laboratory tests you can book an appointment with us for examinations that don’t need a doctor’s referral.
Ferritin
A ferritin test will tell you about your body’s iron level. Ferritin tests are useful if you think you might have iron deficiency anaemia. The symptoms include lack of strength, headache, elevated heart rate and fatigue. Ferritin test can also be used to measure iron levels and tracking of anaemias. A test can easily be taken without a doctor’s referral.

Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 most often comes from animal-based foods and therefore vegetarians should track their B12 levels. Vitamin B12 is needed especially for red blood cell formation.
Lack of vitamin B12 will lead to anaemia, but also neurological symptoms are possible.

Vitamin D
Vitamin D is a vital vitamin, and it is especially important to make sure you get enough vitamin D during winters. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is stored in our bodies. It is received from sunlight, nutrition and vitamin supplements. Testing your vitamin D levels will inform you about a possible lack of vitamin D or disturbance in the calcium metabolism.

Testosterone
Testosterone is the most important sex hormone for men. It influences mood, sex drive, and muscle strength. Testosterone also affects the bone and muscle mass, how men store fat, and the production of red blood cells.

PSA – Prostate-specific antigen
The PSA-value is used to test the health of a man’s prostate. An increased PSA-value can be a sign of benign prostatic hyperplasia or malignant changes. Increased PSA can also be a sign of an infection in the urinary tract tissues.

Thyroid gland test set
Thyroid gland disorders cause many types of symptoms from fatigue to memory loss and weight gain. The symptoms should be examined as soon as possible to prevent them from developing into cardiovascular diseases, anaemia or other serious illnesses.
Our thyroid gland test set includes two blood tests (T4-V and TSH) that will give us an overall image of the state of your thyroid glands.

Cholesterol test set
Our cholesterol test set measures the important blood lipids. Your cholesterol level influences your risk of getting a cardiovascular disease. The test set includes an overall cholesterol test, LDL test, HDL test and triglyceride analysis.

Health check set
Our health check set includes blood level tests that give information about your overall health, strength of your immune system and functionality of your liver and kidneys. We will also measure your blood sugar and blood cholesterol levels that indicate the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Hertta test
The Hertta test is a heart attack and diabetes risk test that uses a blood sample to detect the risk of type 2 diabetes and a serious heart attack. The Hertta test is more accurate than commonly used cholesterol tests.
Hertta predicts the heart attack or diabetes risk for the next 1 to 10 years. The earlier the risk is detected, the better we can affect the situation. Heart attack or diabetes risk might not show up as high cholesterol or other commonly known risk factors, but Hertta test can still detect it.

Instructions and booking
Before taking a blood test
- It is recommended that you are awake for at least an hour before taking a blood test.
- Avoid exercise and getting out of breath before taking the test.
- Sit for 15 minutes before the test to align your blood circulation.
- You can take your morning medication normally except for thyroid gland and other medication that are required to be taken after the test.
Tests that require fasting:
You must not eat, drink or smoke for 10 to 12 hours starting from the night before your test. You can drink a glass of water the morning of your test.
